Emission Standards and Carbon Offset Programmes

To ensure accuracy and transparency in our environmental reporting, EMS Lifts calculates emissions in accordance with ISO 14064 and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.

  • ISO 14064: This standard provides a robust framework for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring that our emissions data meets internationally recognised criteria for consistency and accuracy.
  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol: Widely recognised as the global standard for measuring and managing GHG emissions, the GHG Protocol guides our processes for calculating emissions across all operational scopes, allowing us to make informed decisions and maintain transparency.

For any emissions that cannot be directly eliminated, we offset our remaining carbon footprint through verified carbon offset programs, including:

  • VERRA – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS): The largest voluntary GHG programme, certifying projects in forestry, renewable energy, community health, and waste management. VCS ensures that each project delivers verifiable benefits to both the environment and local communities.
  • Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG): This high-quality standard supports projects with measurable impacts on climate and sustainable development, particularly in the areas of energy, water, and community support. GS4GG certification guarantees that our offsets contribute meaningfully to both environmental goals and community well-being.

Energy-Efficient Operations

Our head office operates entirely on 100% renewable energy, demonstrating our commitment to clean power. Additionally, we’ve installed solar panels that generate power and contribute excess energy back to the grid, maximising renewable resource use. Our facilities are outfitted with energy-efficient LED lighting, further reducing energy consumption and minimising our carbon footprint.

Advanced Recycling Programmes

Reducing waste is central to our environmental approach. We run multiple recycling programmes that cover materials such as cardboard, batteries, metals, workwear, and more. By responsibly managing waste and recycling as much as possible, we’re making strides to create a circular economy within our operations.

Sustainable Transportation

EMS Lifts places a strong emphasis on reducing emissions from transportation. We are committed to expanding our fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles, adopting sustainable transport options wherever possible. To optimise fuel use and emissions, we record, audit, and actively manage our vehicle consumption. Using AI-driven route optimisation, we ensure our vehicles use less fuel, reducing both emissions and operating costs.

Global “Plant a Tree” Initiative

As part of our mission to combat climate change, we operate a global “Plant a Tree” initiative. For every lift sold, we plant a tree that absorbs approximately 0.3 tCO₂e over its lifetime. Beyond carbon capture, this initiative supports impoverished communities around the world, providing valuable resources and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
