Funding Grants– Pro’s & Cons:
When considering adaptations and solutions, naturally you may wonder “am I eligible for funding?”.
It’s always worth checking with your local council to see if you’re eligible for a DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) as there is no cost for doing so. Normally you’ll need to be assessed by an Occupational Therapist through the council to work out what you need, and whether you’re entitled to funding.
It’s important to know that with the high demand through councils for support / funding – the lead times can be around 6 months to a few years for things like stairlifts. Comparatively, purchasing privately can be as quick as next day for some stairlifts – or a little bit longer depending on the configuration and model.
